What is DNG?

http://posterprints.blogspot.com/2005/03/what-is-dng.html

DNG or Digital Negative Specification is a new unified public format for raw digital camera files. It is based on the TIFF EP format, an accepted standard, and already the basis of many proprietary raw formats. Digital Negative Specification ensures that digital photographs can be preserved in original form for use in the future. The new .DNG file format also simplifies digital imaging workflows for creative professionals who today have to make use of multiple file formats as they bring raw images, from different cameras, into print and cross-media publishing projects.

The DNG format is readily available at the Adobe website free of any legal restriction or royalty. Adopting DNG, camera makers will no longer need to create new formats but instead enjoy having one that is compatible with image editing software Adobe Photoshop CS and Adobe Creative Suite. Both Photoshop Elements 3.0 and Photoshop CS support the DNG format.

Creating LineArt from Photos

http://posterprints.blogspot.com/2004/12/creating-lineart-from-photos.html

The example on Creating LineArt from Photos which was posted on December 22, 2004 at The Weblog of Donncha O Caoimh turned out good but it was a very simple example, as Photoshop experts might say. However, this illustration will really help PS novices to learn how to create LineArt photos in PS through simple but effective instructions. Basically, there are different simple ways to generate variations of LineArt from your digital photos in PS. I got here two examples from heathrowe.com.

The first example started by selecting the target image layer. Then, go to 'Filter/Blur/Smart Bur'. From the 'Smart Bur' dialog, make sure that the 'Edge Only' Mode is selected, same with the 'Radius'/'Threshold' sliders. This is done to ensure that an edge line covers the entire image with some excess into the interior of the image as well. Next, with the same image layer active, go to 'Image/Adjustments/Invert'. To add to the edge effects of the line art, go to 'Filter/Artistic/Cutout'. Depending on how thick you want the lines, adjust the Cutout sliders for the desired effect. In short, follow these steps: Smart Blur with Edges Only Mode, 'Ctrl + I' to invert the result of the Smart Blur, and 'Filter/Artistic/Cutout' for smooth line definitions.

On the other hand, the second example began by selecting the target image layer also. Then, go to 'Filter/Stylize/Find Edges'. Next, go to 'Filter/Sketch/Photocopy'. Adjust the 'Detail/Darkness' sliders for a desirable smooth line edge. In short, follow these steps: 'Filter/Stylize/Find Edges', and 'Filter/Sketch/Photocopy'.

Spectra Prints - Digital Printing in Ireland

http://posterprints.blogspot.com/2004/12/spectra-prints-digital-printing-in.html

Spectra Photo has been in the circulation for quite a long time – 34 years to be exact. A company will not stay this long if not for its efficient service, quality results, and of course, maximum customer satisfaction. Reasonable pricing is always an intelligent consideration for every company. Some of the services of Spectra Photo might be a bit expensive but remember that it’s better to spend your money on an expensive digital printing service which will then be equated to top notch results than to minimize your expenses and compromise the product’s quality.

Spectra Photo has already built a reputation of its own. It has also acquired loyal clients as time goes by. The big question is - what makes Spectra Photo stand firm in three decades and become Ireland’s market leader in photo processing and photo retail?

Spectra Photo offers a wide range of services to enhance its client’s enjoyment of picture taking and make more of their memories. It has a full range of photo services available from border prints to DIGI CD from any of the 40 Spectra Photo stores or over 1,000 agents nationwide. You can now put your photos on DIGI CD available with 35mm and APS processing. You can also use your digital camera, digital media, or DIGI CD to get quality prints from your digital photos on real photographic paper at any Spectra Photo store online without the use of messy negatives.

Delicious Photography Links

http://posterprints.blogspot.com/2004/12/delicious-photography-links.html

Photography is picture language. Unlike spoken or written word, it is a form of communication that can be globally understood. Photography can send a thousand words. Thus, it is important that the message is not only comprehensible but also fascinating.

Due to the arrival of digital photography, we can take infrared pictures whenever we please, mixing them with "normal" ones, and see results on the spot, tweaking the settings to our own desires.

Infrared images exhibit a few distinct effects that give them an exotic, antique look. Taking infrared photographs is simple, but there are a few things you should consider. First connect your filter to your camera. Check to see that no light can escape through whatever attachment mechanism you will use. Make sure you turn off the flash on your digital camera. Since very little light will be penetrating the visible light filter, your camera most likely underexpose if it tries to use the flash. Place your camera to its highest ISO rating. Once these precautions have been taken, you're ready to shoot! Take some test photographs to make sure that your set-up works. Bear in mind to try to use your tripod.

If you find the noise in the image that is objectionable, it can be removed quite well with the use of the Neat Image program. It has a wide range of available adjustments. To make the noise more visible, you may also underexpose your pictures by one or two EV, and then stretch the tonal range in postprocessing to recover the shadows and highlights; this will also amplify the noise noticeably. This technique takes less to apply than to describe.

EDiscovery saves Money

http://posterprints.blogspot.com/2004/12/ediscovery-saves-money.html

According to an article posted at Techtrends on January 27, 2003, Ediscovery simply refers to the retrieval of data and information from a computer. However, in the law practice, it actually goes beyond the origin of the computer files to cover the analysis, gathering, processing, review and production of discovery materials in electronic format from the beginning to the end.

The idea of Ediscovery has offered several advantages to the law profession. With this, you can reinforce your case with evidences that are not always readily available and incorporate it in your presentation. You can also convert your application files to images or paper and extract an electronic mail and its attachments into database records or paper. Generally, you can save time, gain a strategic advantage, and respond to changes in case law using Ediscovery.

However, above all these good things about Ediscovery, others consider it as a big no-no due to its costs. Let me clear up this thing for you. What can seem like a large expense at first glance is actually much less expensive than traditional discovery processes on a per page basis. Basically, we might think that it is expensive because electronic evidence is involved. That’s a fallacy. Electronic data can only be very expensive to produce if you need to restore backup tapes and utilize forensic technology to access requested data and review a vast number of documents because it requires a party to restore the data and/or use computer forensic technology to access it.
You can truly save money from Ediscovery.

http://posterprints.blogspot.com/2004/12/hollywood-campaign-hits-websites.html

I don’t know where to place myself. Both parties have been affected in one way or another. But then, the article has presented a good case in favor of Hollywood.
First is the move made by the Motion Picture Association of America to launch a legal action against those operating BitTorrent servers. Whether we admit it or not, Hollywood is earning big time in almost every movie they make. With international silver screens to invade, they are indeed the biggest movie industry in the world.

Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Sunshine

http://posterprints.blogspot.com/2004/12/eternal-sunshine-of-spotless-sunshine.html

On the article posted at Scott Milling Weblog on October 31, 2004, the author had reviewed some of the recent films that were shown in theaters worldwide. I also have here what I can say about these four films.
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow - Truly, everything is possible now especially in movies. Filmmakers can make impossible things to happen, bring us to strange places and introduce us to creatures that can never exist in real life, and can even make the old look new – just like in this totally original movie.
